The Spanish football league, La Liga, has announced that the total broadcasting revenue for the current season is expected to surpass €4 billion (approximately $5 billion) for the first time in its history.

According to the league's financial report, the total broadcasting revenue for the 2018-2019 season was €3.6 billion, which represents a 7% increase from the previous year. The increase in revenue can be attributed to the success of the league and its clubs, as well as the increasing popularity of football worldwide.

La Liga also reported that the average broadcast audience for matches on TV and online platforms during the 2018-2019 season was 11 million viewers per matchday, with a peak of over 20 million viewers during the final stages of the league.

The league's CEO, Javier Tebas, said: "We are proud of our achievements this season, especially given the challenging economic conditions we faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic."

He added: "We have managed to secure significant revenues despite these challenges, and we are confident that we will continue to deliver value for our partners and stakeholders in the future."

Overall, the success of La Liga and its clubs has helped to drive up the total broadcasting revenue for the league, which is now set to break records for the first time ever. The league is expected to continue to grow in popularity and attract more fans, making it a lucrative market for broadcasters and sponsors alike.
