The Brazilian forward, Edmilson, has signed a new contract extension with Chinese Super League (CSL) side Shanghai Shenhua, keeping him at the club until the end of the season.
The deal was announced on Monday, and it will see Edmilson play for the club in the upcoming campaign. The striker had initially been set to leave the club after his contract expired this summer, but he decided to extend his stay in China.
"Thank you very much for your support, I have chosen to renew my contract with Shanghai Shenhua," Edmilson said in a statement released by the club. "I am very happy to be able to continue playing for such a great team."
The 31-year-old has already made a significant impact since joining the club last year, scoring eight goals in just 15 appearances. He is now looking forward to continuing his impressive form and helping the club achieve its goals.
Shanghai Shenhua are currently second in the CSL standings, three points behind leaders Beijing Guoan. Edmilson's presence will undoubtedly help the club to push further up the table and secure a place in the top flight next season.
The striker has previously played for several clubs in Brazil and Europe, including Inter Milan, Real Madrid and AC Milan. He is known for his powerful shots and aerial ability, and he is expected to make a big difference to the Shanghai Shenhua attack.
